In the words of (the amazing) Adele: ‘Hello from the other side…’
After working in several internal communication and employee engagement roles over the past 8 years, a mere 3 weeks ago I joined the Employee Research team here at ORC International.
Throughout my career I have worked in the realm of employee engagement, specialising in internal communications across both the retail and, more recently, charity sectors, where I was the Internal Communications and Employee Engagement manager at Comic Relief. Throughout all of my roles, I’ve been involved in communication for a range of projects and subjects -from transformation and change processes to company-wide system changes, to the fact that the Chuckle Brothers had made a mess in the kitchen and it was out of order, or requesting volunteers to kiss David Walliams on national TV (both of these are entirely true). Don’t even get me started on my time at Ann Summers!
At Comic Relief, we used ORC for our annual engagement surveys – I was lucky enough to be asked to share some of my insights at their conference last summer and at the launch of the Winning Workplace report. I loved attending the events; it was always so empowering speaking to people who really ‘got’ engagement and its importance. I always left with a renewed focus and drive, fuelled by the passion and knowledge of the ORC teams – so when the opportunity at ORC came up, it felt like a no-brainer.
So if we should meet and work together soon, just know that I have been in your shoes. I’ve felt the amazing high you get when engagement clicks and you see an improvement in those numbers – as well as the challenges that come alongside that. I’ve lived that rollercoaster; now I’m ready to strap myself in with you and enjoy the unique ride that is your engagement journey.
