Finding yourself married to your mobile, checking email at all hours of the night, and still putting in long hours in the office? With the onslaught of accessibility, employees often have a hard time disconnecting from their jobs — quickly leading to burnout. But while the long hours are typically associated with burnout, our Global Perspectives survey found that there are many other factors such as pressure, stress, tight deadlines, low morale, combative work relationships, and less than stellar health and wellness benefits that contribute as well.
With only 51% of employees saying they are satisfied with the policies and practices in place to help manage health and wellbeing, what can employers do to mitigate stress and help reinvigorate employees?
Leaders today need to take a close look at how burnout is affecting their organisation. Six in 10 respondents think their organisation is well-managed, but how can more leaders find better ways to engage employees? Being proactive and creating innovation initiatives to support employees’ health and well-being is a start. Managers can leverage a slew of strategies — from regular chats to helping employees get the job done — to drive engagement and mitigate burnout. Here are some initial helpful tips:

2) Walk it off: Find different ways to meet, talk, and engage
3) Be the advocate
4) Consider the demands of the job
5) Fix problems they bring to you
